Regular, Full-Time, RCUH Non-Civil Service position with the University of Hawaii, Hawaii Community College, for the Rural Hawaii 1 (RH1) Project, located in Hilo, Hawaii. Continuation of employment is dependent upon program/operational needs, satisfactory work performance, availability of funds, and compliance with applicable Federal/State laws.

SALARY: Salary commensurate with qualifications.

DUTIES: Coordinates, manages, and directs all activities of the project. Works to achieve project outcomes, works with project partners, faculty, staff, and private/public employers to develop internship opportunities for HawCC students; recruits and places HawCC students in internships, obtains employer evaluations and creates surveys, systematic with tracking of and gathering data to report and measure performance needs and trends of student and employment workforce trends. Writes all necessary project reports. Assists and supports operational duties at the Career and Job Development Center with counseling of students with pre-employment skills, internship opportunities, and job placement. Assists in the promotion and utilization of Career Services Online (CSO), the new online off-campus employment program, and disseminates information and training of students, faculty, and business partners with CSO. Conducts workshops, training sessions, and briefings about internships and job opportunities with students and faculty members.

PRIMARY QUALIFICATIONS: EDUCATION: Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited four (4) year college or university. EXPERIENCE: At least one (1) year of progressively responsible and professional experience in an educational or social services setting. Must have some experience providing academic counseling, direct client services, including but not limited to administering/interpreting personality/career assessment inventories, career planning and transfer student services knowledge, experienced with computer educational technology skills and social networking. ABIL/KNOW/SKILLS: Basic knowledge of career guidance/counseling and employability development practices and resources. Knowledge to assist students to overcome employment barriers and other post-secondary education transitional options. Basic knowledge of post-secondary education programs, the practices and procedures for transferring into such programs. Must have excellent interpersonal skills and work well with others. Must have a thorough understanding of the world of work and up-to-date information about trends that affect the employment outlook. Able to examine information and arrive at solutions or recommendations and/or take appropriate action. Ability to establish and maintain accurate records and files, including computerized data files. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Must possess strong computer software skills with commonly used professional software programs. Post Offer/Employment Condition: Must be able to pass a post offer criminal background check.

SECONDARY QUALIFICATIONS: Master’s Degree from an accredited college or university in Counseling and Guidance, Education, Computer Technology, Human Services, Human Resources, Business Administration or related field. Experience with external funded projects, grant writing and reporting, budget and data tracking, career online employment resources, and an established network of community partner resources. Knowledge of or familiarity with Banner and STAR programs. Knowledge of or familiarity with UH policies and procedures.
