These vital summer program positions work as part of the General Staff Team for the summer day programs held in the City of Lakewood. The purpose of our program is to provide recreational, educational and therapeutic opportunities for youth and young adults with disabilities in a safe and fun day camp/program environment.

These key staff members work in a temporary part-time capacity directly with camper/participant groups where the environment is ever-changing and fast-paced surrounded by a professional staff committed to serving our participants and providing an optimal experience.

Major Tasks, Duties, and Responsibilities:
The hiring range for these temporary part-time positions is $8.15-$8.95.

Job Summaries are as follows:
Camp Paha Counselors Camp Paha Counselors work directly with their group of 8-12 campers ensuring their safety, health, enjoyment and participation in camp activities. Counselors report directly to their Head Counselor and provide hands on care for campers. This may include changing campers and assisting campers with eating lunch. Counselors are age 16+.

PAT (Paha Adults in Transition) Program Group Staff
PAT Program Group Staff work directly with their group of 8-12 participants ensuring their safety, health, enjoyment and participation in camp activities. Counselors report directly to their Group Leader and provide hands on care for participants. This may include changing and feeding participants in addition to assisting with other personal needs such as eating lunch. Group Staff must be at least 18 years of age.

Essential Qualifications:
Qualifications and KSA's for Camp Paha Counselors are:
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Minimum Age: 16 years old
  • Must have or obtain a physical examination prior to employment renewable every 24 months.
  • Ability to work with people who have a variety of physical, emotional and cognitive/intellectual disabilities.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of and the ability to lead indoor and outdoor, individual and group recreational skills.
  • Ability to problem solve with and for the campers when necessary.
  • Ability to work with all ability levels in a caring, consistent non-judgmental fashion.
  • Demonstrate good listening and communication skills.
  • Ability to work as a team member with other staff.
  • Must have CPR and First Aid Certification (training provided).
  • Position requires a criminal background check prior to hire with additional Colorado Bureau of Investigation clearance and TRAILS registry clearance within 5 and 10 day, respectively, of employment.
  • Able to safely lift or assist in lifting 50 lbs. (lifting a wheel chair or an individual in and out of their wheel chair.)
Report to Head Counselor, Assistant Director and Director.
