Primary responsibility is to call on existing and new correspondents to obtain additional loan business to assist in Relationship Lending Unit to meet department and individual goals. Work directly with RLU Lenders providing training to increase current relationships and/or build new ones. Provide leadership and work direction to RLU department; responsible for RLU department in the absence of the RLU Manager.
Maintain, enhance and expand key relationships with brokers and source leads to obtain new loans with the assistance of RLU lenders. Manage brokers and nurture established broker relationships.
Participate in establishing objectives, strategies and performance goals for the RLU department in order to actively influence and promote increased market penetration, revenue and profitability for the bank.
In the absence of the Manager, supervise and direct all loan activity for the RLU department while meeting and adhering to corporate, legal and regulatory policies, guidelines and requirements regarding compliance. Has decision making authority.
Serve as mentor to all lending personnel in the various aspects of lending such as but not limited to policies and procedures, state and federal laws, etc.
Take an active role with RLU Manager and Assistant Managers in the training, development and motivation of the RLU department to achieve unit and monthly disbursement goals. Provide input to formal performance appraisals and assist in the recruitment and hiring of personnel.
Direct new lending opportunities to experienced RLU lenders to build stronger relationships and direct new loan applications from new brokers to Assistant RLU Managers and work with their lenders in the underwriting and processing of these loans.
Deny or recommend approval on consumer loans within established credit policies. Recommend credit decisions on loans over assigned credit limits to appropriate level of management.
Bachelors degree in Finance/Accounting or related field or equivalent years of work experience
3-5 years or Retail Lending underwriting and sales management experience.
Experience in evaluation of credit issues.
Demonstrated ability to supervise, train and direct the activities of others.
Expertise in all mortgage products and requirements.
Thorough understanding of state and federal lending compliance.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Sales training education
Knowledgeable of TCF delegated loan program and all regular TCF Lending programs.
