RN - Day Surgery
The Registered Nurse for Day Surgery (RN) will provide a comforting, safe and healing environment for patients and their families. The RN must be able to demonstrate advanced knowledge and skills in the care of his/her patients. Each department and service area may also require specialized skills. The delivery of care is based on criteria that is age appropriate and is based on the physical, psychosocial, cultural, safety and learning needs of the individual patient. The RN may rotate to other areas other than his/her normally assigned service area/s, and will perform only those duties for which he/she has demonstrated competency.
The Registered Nurse for Day Surgery is responsible to provide safe, effective nursing care to all patients' requiring Pain service procedures utilizing the Nursing process. The RN verifies patient information, planned procedures, informed consents, surgical site, appropriate instruments, equipment and supplies. This nurse monitors patient response and case management intra-operatively; providing for patient and the physician's needs as necessary. The Registered Nurse for Surgical Services/Pain Center demonstrates the ability to transfer patient to appropriate surgical table according to procedure and surgeon preference, using proper positioning, techniques and devices to provide for optimal patient outcome.
The RN demonstrates critical thinking skills, scientific judgment and leadership in the anticipation and planning for the care of the patient. The RN is responsible and accountable for the planning, directing and provision of nursing care to patients in accordance with the Florida Nurse Practice Act, physician's orders, recognized nursing techniques, policies, procedures, established standards and administrative policies.
Current licensure Florida state Registered Nurse
Current BLS Healthcare Provider certifications
Customer service abilities including effective listening skills
Critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision in a fast paced environment
Ability to perform work that requires frequent standing, bending, reaching, squatting, kneeling, moving, lifting of patients and/or equipment up to 50 pounds
Minimum of 3 years of clinical nursing experience
