The RN assesses all patients who present to the Emergency Department requesting treatment through the use of the nursing process. RN is responsible for providing up-to-date, timely and comprehensive nursing care. Coordinates acute care and necessary follow-up with other staff members, other departments, Emergency Department physicians, the patient’s primary care physician and all others as necessary. Follows Registered Nurse state practice guidelines and hospital policies and procedures.
In addition, as assigned by the Director or Manager, the RN may be assigned charge nurse duties. The Charge Nurse assists Department Director, Manager and Clinical Team Leaders in tasks and assigned duties. Oversees and coordinates care of all patients presenting for treatment. Assigns patient care assignments according to the needs of the patient as well as available staff. Resolves conflicts with staff, physicians, patient and families as necessary. Coordinates with the Director, Manager and Clinical Team Leaders on all other aspects of departmental functions as needed. Assists with clinical care of patients as necessary.
The incumbent must have a current RN license with the State of Idaho and at least 1 year of RN experience.
AHA CPR for Healthcare Providers is required, instructor status is preferred.
Must complete Non-Violent Crisis Intervention within 3 months, ACLS provider status within 6 months instructor status preferred, and PALS provider within the first year of hire or transfer to the Emergency Department instructor status preferred then must maintain current certification thereafter. TNCC provider is strongly recommended instructor status preferred.
Will follow assigned unit dress code and present a professional image at all times.
