GI RN (PT) - Atlantis Outpatient Center
Under the direction of the Nurse Manager, the G.I. nurse is responsible for direct patient care in both the assisting and circulating nurse roles. The G.I. nurse is also responsible for providing professional nursing care during admission and recovery as well as other assignments within the
Collaborates with other members of the health care team to delivery quality care.
Job Functions and Responsibilities:
Plans and prepares for the pre-procedure nursing care of the patient.
Performs job duties in a manner, which is consistent with current standards for
the job and with the Policies and Procedures of the Center.
Introduces self to patient, check ID band. Identifies patient using two identifiers.
Verbally validates procedure and is witness to the patients signature on consent, if needed. Answers patient questions and explains each task as performed. Reassures family members.
Maintains patient confidentiality and privacy.
Completes pre-procedure assessment, identifies the patient’s baseline vital signs,
including ECG, NIPB, pulse oximetry. Reviews chart for current allergies,
medications and medical history.
Completes pre-procedure documentation in a legible and concise manner.
Reviews history & physical and laboratory values provided by the physician.
Checks and signs off the physicians orders.
Performs CLIA waived laboratory tests as ordered by physician.
Inserts IV and administers pre-procedure medications as ordered by physician.
Keeps family members informed of any delays, i.e. physician delay, procedure
start time delayed.
Education and Experience:
Graduate from an accredited
At least 6 months of experience.
License and Certification:
Current RN License in the State of
Current certification in CPR
certification or obtain within 30 days of hire
This is a part-time 24hr per work week position
