A registered professional nurse employed by Erlanger Medical Center is responsible for direct and/or indirect care of the patient. The RN will select, develop, & individualize a plan of care utilizing a multi-disciplinary approach. They will implement and evaluate their patients? plan of care.
Required: Graduate from an accredited School of Nursing.
Required: Knowledge of general obstetric, gynecologic, and newborn nursing principles and practice skills; knowledge of organizational functions, policies and regulations; knowledge of current trends and new developments; knowledge of principles and practices of nursing, applicable to those areas requiring special education.
Position Requirement(s): License/Certification/Registration:
Required: Current licensure to practice nursing in the State of Tennessee.
Preferred: Certification/newborn in obstetric nursing desirable.
Department Position Summary:
The RN on the OB/GYN Unit, CW5/5000, post-delivery care of new mothers either with vaginal deliveries or Cesarean sections, knowledgeable in the care of newborns, and assisting lactation services. The RN must be knowledgeable in post-operative care of patients having gynecological procedures. Performs admissions & shift patient assessments. Administers meds and performs treatment as ordered. Is responsible for correct documentation and administers IVs and blood products per hospital protocol. Performs nursing according to the institution?s policies and procedures. The RN must possess a current certification in BLS. NRP certification obtained in first 6 months of employment. STABLE preferred.
