Unity Hospital, located in Fridley, Minn. serves the northern metropolitan communities with a full continuum of care and services and is known for its expertise in bariatrics and obstetrical care. For more than 40 years, Unity has been dedicated to providing care to nearly 250,000 households in more than 26 neighboring communities. Responsibilities

Care of the GI endoscopy and infusion/transfusion patient.

Qualifications

Education/Experience:
  • RN, current MN RN license
  • BSN preferred
  • Graduate from an accredited school of nursing
  • BLS required
  • ACLS required
  • 2 year current GI endoscopy and assistant experience required
  • Moderate sedation experience required
  • Infusion therapies including transfusion, infusion, injection, dressing changes, minor procedures, pre and post procedural with PH 2 care of sedated patients
  • Excellian competent
Skills
  • 2 year current endoscopic GI experience required including ERCP's, EGD's broncoscopy and colonoscopy
  • Competent administering and caring for patients undergoing moderate sedation required
  • SGNA certification preferred
  • IV experience required
  • Blood transfusion experience required
  • Pre and post care of procedural patients required
  • Excellian knowledge of POP and ROP patients required
  • Competency in providing care to the patient receiving local anesthesia
  • Provide physical safety of the patient undergoing a minor surgical procedure
  • Provide age specific and culturally sensitive care to patients
  • Critical thinking and the ability to prioritize a must in this fast paced unit
  • Admission, pre/post procedure care, and discharge for radiology and ultrasound patients
  • Administration of medications and execution of M.D. treatment orders
  • CPR, BLS AND ACLS certification within 90 days of hire
  • Strong clinical knowledge base in related area
  • Proficient oral and written communication skills
  • Critical thinking skills and patient care competencies for assessment and interventions
  • Contributions to health care team planning and evaluation, ability to prioritize
  • Ability to work intimately with patients and families throughout the life continuum
  • Ability to establish effective relationships with health care team members, managers and leaders with the key persons who relate to the patient and family during times of illness, crisis and development
  • Skillful in teaching others
  • Knowledge and skill in providing patient care in the role of the circulating nurse

Pay,Benefits, & Work Schedule
  • Part time position
  • 16 hours/week
  • Day/Evening shift
  • Rotating call weekend rotations
  • MNA contract
RN hires with less than 1 year of RN experience must be a graduate of an accredited school of nursing (American Association of Colleges of Nursing or The National League for Nursing) which is inclusive of a clinical rotation in an acute care facility.
