The Registered Nurse is responsible for the care of ante partum, postpartum, medical and surgical female patients. The RN collaborates with other nurses, physicians, and allied health personnel to ensure efficient and effective work flow of their scheduled shift and a smooth transition to the next shift. The RN is expected to be able to perform the duties of unit secretary and nurse aide as defined in their respective job descriptions and participate in performance improvement activities. The Registered Nurse works closely with the Director, the charge Nurse, members of the Maternal/Child Tract, medical staff, as well as other professional staff, ancillary department members, visitors and families.
- Responsible for compliance with overall nursing practice standards of the specialty area (Reports to Department Patient Care Manager)
- Responsible for compliance with standards during assigned shift (Reports to Administrative Supervisor)
- Uses established principles of delegation and supervision to direct the activities of all licensed and non-licensed care givers and support staff in the delivery of patient care during their assigned shift
- Uses independent judgment to ensure optimal delivery of patient care and appropriate use of available resources
One or more years experience in desired specialty
National certifications in your specialty preferred
License in good standing to practice as a Registered Nurse in the state of Texas.

preferred unless Pediatrics is home unit, then required within six months of hire and throughout employment
preferred unless NICU/NSY is home unit, then required within three months of hire and throughout employment.
