Under the guidance of the Director of Nursing Services acts as the administrative and clinical representative in the absence of departmental directors or managers after hours, on weekends, and holidays. Work collaboratively with department directors and managers to identify staffing needs for normal operations; respond to emergencies and direct care related activities as needed; maintains communication with administration as appropriate.
Supervises and supports staff on duty in all aspects of care provided during their tour of duty. These duties include but are not limited to: providing effective distribution and utilization of personnel with emphasis on staffing for nursing areas by coordinating work schedules and shift coverage, bed management, addressing patient or family members concerns, responding to AMA, Dr. Armstrong paging or any other security paging codes, all restraint & seclusions incidents, and any issue or incident outlined in and/or requiring the completion of an Incident Report Form. Assists with Visitor safety and control, and performs physical security checks of the buidings on campus. Completes work orders as needed.
Acts as a senior clinical and administrative nursing resource and support to all clinical staff on duty within his/her scope of care. Assists with direct patient care duties within his/her scope of care as needed. Retrives medications from Pharmacy and/or facilitates acquisition from local vendor in consultation with on-call Pharmacy staff.
Must have one to two years of clinical experience in inpatient psychiatric/mental health nursing with two years progressive nursing managerial experience.
