Basic Function: The PRN Radiographer performs complex imaging procedures under the direction of a Radiologist, Technical Director, Chief Technologist, or Supervisor. The PRN Radiographer performs imaging procedures on patients of all ages to include neonatal, infant, child, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients for diagnostic or therapeutic purposes. This individual partidpates in training of students and new employees, quality improvement, and safety programs designed to meet the goals and purposes of the Radiology Department and the needs of the patient. The PRN Radiographer has completed an approved educational program in Radiologic Sciences and is registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT). For the Medical College of Georgia/Augusta Technical College/Aiken Technical College graduates are required to pass their
registry within one year of graduation. The PRN Radiographer should be comfortable working in almost any imaging
environment. The PRN Radiographer may be employed at times in various sections of the Department of Radiology including
CT, MRI, Angio, or Nuclear Medidne.
Minimum Requirements (Education, Experience, Licensure, Skills): Current registry by the (ARRT) American Registry of Radiologic Technologists is required or alterably licensure or limited licensure in Radiography with demonstrated competency since licensure is not conducted in the state of Georgia. A license or a limited license from another state will be accepted upon documentation. For the Medical College of Georgia / Augusta Technical College / Aiken Technical College graduates are required to pass the registry within one year upon graduation.
Other Requirements: A current CPR card is required.
A minimum of two years of general experience in imaging is also required. Candidates for this position will have completed a minimum of a two year educational program in Radiologic Sciences. For the Medical College of Georgia / Augusta Technical College / Aiken Technical College graduates, their clinical rotation validates 2 yrs of experience. Computer language skills required: Must be computer literate at the PC level and able to understand and operate computer programs used within the Department of Radiology and able to adapt to changing software skill requirements.
Computer knowledge is a must with the minimum typing skills of 15-20 words per minute.
