I. BASIC FUNCTION

The Radiologic Technologist must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to patients of all age groups, from pediatrics to geriatrics. Responsible for producing quality diagnostic radiographs and being knowledgeable of procedures performed within the Radiology Department. Must be able to work well under the direction of the Radiologist and Chief Technologist with high regard to quality and courteous patient care.

II. POSITION ACCOUNTABILITY

The Radiologic Technologist is accountable to the Director of Radiology, the Radiology Medical Director, patients and families.

III. SIGNIFICANT POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES

A. Responsible for producing quality diagnostic films and being knowledgeable of procedures limited to the scope specified by a limited licensed issued by the Commonwealth of Virginia.

B. Demonstrates working knowledge of equipment in the department in accordance with license limitation.

C. Responsible for radiation safety and uses protective measures as necessary.

D. Repeats x-ray views with changes as requested by radiologist.

Leadership - identifies problems and facilitates resolution with co-workers and/or other appropriate hospital personnel.

Participates in after hours coverage as required.

HOSPITAL-WIDE RESPONSIBILITIES/ACCOUNTABILITIES

A. Participates in the Improving Organizational Performance (IOP) Process.
B. Performs job duties in a manner that supports the "Values".
C. Meets attendance requirements of absenteeism and lateness.
D. Attends Mandatory Inservices.
E. Adheres to hospital policies supporting patient rights & confidentiality.
F. Participates in development and attainment of department and/or WCCH Annual Business Plan Goals.
G. Reports any suspected violations of Corporate Compliance to an immediate Supervisor, Corporate Compliance Officer/Team or the Comply Line.
H. HIPAA -- Adheres to WCCH policies and procedures regarding privacy and security of health information.
I. Works collaboratively to provide a safe environment for not only the patient, but staff and visitors.

V. QUALIFICATIONS
A. Education
Must be a high school graduate. Must be a graduate of an approved School of Radiologic Technology and be registered with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologist.

B. Physical Demands
The physical demands of the Radiologic Technologist include sitting (10% of work time), standing (50% of work time), and walking (40% of work time). Some lifting and patient assistance may be required as suitable for body strength and size.

Must communicate well with people. Should be able to remain calm in stressful situations. Must have ability to understand oral and written instructions. Form perception is necessary to perceive details in radiographs.

A. Education
Must be a high school graduate. Must be a graduate of an approved School of Radiologic Technology and be registered with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologist.
