Summary:
Under the direction of the Physician(s), performs radiographic procedures at a technical level not requiring constant supervision of technical detail. Performs a variety of technical procedures that will require independent judgment with ingenuity and initiative to apply prescribed ionizing radiation for radiologic diagnosis. Assumes responsibility for designated areas or procedures as required.

Displays maturity, flexibility, and effective organization and communication skills in dealing with other people. Works cooperatively with other departments and promotes teamwork within the department. Maintains a pleasant, efficient, and well-organized working environment.

Principle Accountabilities: % Of Time Spent
1. Practices proper entries and records on Radiology Information System and PACS. 20%

2. Prepares patient for radiographic procedures by accurately assessing patients’ needs. 30%

3. Operates computer and radiographic equipment for image production and documentation of images, and performs quality control measures for the purpose of ensuring optimal quality images. 30%

4. Prepares patients images for interpretation by Physician. 10%

5. Performs other work duties as assigned (e.g., Perform digital x-ray under the direction of the physician. Duties may also include scheduling, maintaining medical record, digitizing old films, taking and recording vital signs, preparing patients for exam, assisting with procedures as needed). 10%

Required Experience:
2-5 years experience preferred.

The assessment, care and treatment provided by the Technologist will be consistent with the specific age related needs of the patient. The Technologist is competent to care for patient age groups including neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patients.

Required Education:
High school diploma or equivalent

Must be a graduate of an AMA approved school of Radiological Technology and certified with the American Registry of Radiological Technologists.

The technologist may be required to attend seminars as deemed necessary and/or beneficial regarding pertinent issues of Radiology or equipment operation.

Working Conditions:

Employee is required to sit and walk frequently. Employee must lift/carry a light (1-20 lbs.) load frequently, a medium (21-50 lbs.) and/or heavy (50 lbs. +) load occasionally.

Employee may be required to lift over 100 lbs. with assistance. Employee is occasionally required to bend, squat, crawl, kneel, climb, lift waist to overhead. Employee is occasionally required to reach forward and reach overhead. Employee may be required to do simple grasping and pushing/pulling.

Employee must frequently position and transfer patients. Employee must have a continuous knowledge of radiology computer systems regarding their function and capabilities.

(Occasionally: 1-33%, Frequently: 34-66%, Continuously: 67-100%)

The most significant of duties are included but this does not exclude occasional work assignments not mentioned or developmental duties.
