General Purpose:
Inspects, diagnoses, maintains, adjust, troubleshoots, and repairs railcars and other rail equipment in compliance with FRA regulations, AAR rules and standards, and customer requirements, while complying with required safety requirements.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Operates cutting torch in all positions without damage to adjoining parts and while wearing required personal protective equipment
Removes, repairs, and replaces defective or worn parts such as couplers, draft gears, safety appliances, springs, and wheels while using torque wrenches and power and hand tools, when required
Performs quality control checks to ensure proper operation of repaired or replaced units
Maintains a record of railcar conditions and performed work
Uses blueprints, shop sketches, or instruction manuals to remove, fabricate, repair, and install components
Performs other duties as assigned

Requirements
Experience with mechanical repair of some description and accustom to working with industrial tooling. Metal fabrication, oxygen fuel cutting torch, air arcing, and welding experience in tank car repair, freight car repair.
Industry knowledge of OSHA safety rules and knowledge of MSDSs preferred
Ability to pay strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to multitask
Strong focus on safety and quality are essential
