Duties & Responsibilities: (Essential Functions of Position, Major Responsibilities, Summary of Key Duties, Special Assignments, Relationships)


This position is funded by a grant and is currently a one year only position.

Jefferson-Edison has a 5 day longer school year.

Provide focused intervention support for students who are struggling in reading.

Collaborate with classroom teachers and other staff to design support that meets student needs.

Participate in school wide professional development.

Design, delivers and administers the Prevention plans for students who are on Tier II and Tier III plans.

Provide in-class support for teachers by assisting in screening and diagnostic activities, monitoring intervention strategies, and monitoring student progress.

Demonstrates exemplary classroom practice and possesses a deep understanding of literacy theory for the purpose of modeling best practices in literacy and improving student achievement levels.

Instruct individual and small groups of students for the purpose of improving literacy achievement levels.

Ability to accept direction and lead from teachers.

Ability to work in a collaborative environment.

Ability to model a positive attitude and team cooperation for the students

Personal qualities need to include the ability to nurture, good attendance, patience, dependability and the ability to accept responsibility.

Ability to work in a diverse population.

Other duties as assigned by the Principal.

We are a mule level building. Must be able to climb stairs.

Able to lift up to 50 pounds

Reading Endorsement

Should be punctual, dependable, and responsible and use good judgment.

Should be self-motivated and work well with staff, parents and students.

Experience in working with children grades K-3 preferred..

Willing to work in a true team atmosphere.

Maintains professional relationship and confidentiality with the school community.

Has demonstrated the skill of initiative in former work settings.

Exhibits positive interpersonal skills when dealing with students, parents, and staff.
