Neighborhood Housing Services, Inc. (NHS) is recruiting a NeighborWorks Americorps VISTA position to serve as a Real Estate/Asset Management Specialist for the program year 2013-2014.
NHS is an affordable housing and community development, nonprofit organization located in Boise, Idaho. Our purpose is to innovate housing solutions for Idaho's underserved populations, which we accomplish through several services, including: affordable apartment communities, acquisition and rehabilitation, homebuyer education, mortgage lending, foreclosure prevention and community revitalization efforts (Paint The Town ™ and Rake Up Boise ™ ). The Real Estate/Asset Management Specialist will work to enhance the management and efficiency of NHS properties in order to provide a better experience and expanded resident services to the low and moderate income families served there. The main goal of the position is to improve asset management operations by considering improvements to monitoring and reporting systems, as well as the development of green initiatives to improve energy consumption and environmental impacts. Tasks may include: assessing current processes, research of best practices, developing recommendations, and building improved systems as identified and agreed upon. Tasks also include developing a Utility Consumption Tracking system, resident green awareness activities, necessary reporting mechanisms and training processes. This position reports to the Director of Real Estate.

NeighborWorks Americorps VISTAs will receive a $928/month stipend, a $5,500 education award, and professional development and training opportunities. Discounted housing accommodations are possible – to be handled on an individual basis upon placement. Other Americorps VISTA benefits include health coverage, child care allowance, and relocation allowance. VISTAs must attend a Pre-Service Orientation in August 2013 and begin service immediately following. Service ends one year after start date.
