Position Available: Eastern Illinois University's Booth Library is seeking a Librarian to serve as Head of Reference in a 12-month, tenure-track position.
Responsibilities: Lead a dynamic and evolving library reference department in an environment of professional collegiality and collaboration. Responsible for overseeing library instruction, providing faculty and student outreach, and developing collaborative teaching and learning opportunities. Additional duties may include collection development and liaison for business, selected science disciplines, or government documents.
**Graduate library degree from an ALA-accredited institution; a second masters is preferred and required for the rank of assistant professor and before tenure.
**Minimum of three years professional experience in reference and instruction.
**Excellent organizational skills, a public service orientation, and strong communication skills.
**Documented experience supervising professionals and support staff is preferred.
Terms of Appointment and Salary: This is a tenure-track, 12-month faculty position. Promotion and tenure requirements are defined by a collective bargaining agreement, and include evaluation in the areas of teaching/primary duties, research and creative activity, and service. The minimum salary for appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor is $58,404 or $69,684 for Associate Professor.
The Library: Booth Library is located in the heart of Eastern Illinois University's campus and contains over a million cataloged volumes. A comprehensive program of Library Services is offered to students, faculty and citizens of Illinois.
