DESCRIPTION

Seeking candidates who have great customer service skill, can multitask, and has medical knowledge/background.

Position Summary:
The Referral Clerk (CMA/MA) under direct supervision will perform routine patient care, technical and supportive functions in a medical clinic setting. The Referral Clerk (CMA/MA) will function with in the scope of practice as described by the State of California Board. The Referral Clerk will assist staff with the Referral Process including the scheduling of appointments, communication with the patients and all necessary follow up to complete the process.

DUTIES

Essential Functions:
Perform routine patient care functions as prescribed by licensed heath care providers following established clinical protocols, policies and procedures within their scope of education, training and responsibilities
Assist medical personnel with procedures and/or diagnostic exams
Provide basic information and assistance to patients under the direction of the licensed personnel
Document pertinent patient information, nursing procedures and patient response, following established guidelines and maintaining patient confidentiality.
Initiate and complete the Referral process.
Communicate with the patient and Providers on the status of the referrals.
Provide medical information and education to patients, following established protocols and policies.
Document pertinent patient information. Maintain patient confidentiality.
On a temporary basis, may be required to work at any satellite facility.
Demonstrates specific age competency needs of patients from 0-100+ years of age within your department.
Be willing to learn electronic medical records.

QUALIFICATIONS

Qualifications:
1. Completion of accredited Medical Assistant Program.
2. Current Basic Life Support Card required
3. Willingness to work well with other health care providers
4. Commitment to the concept of preventative medicine and team approach to health care delivery.
5. Willingness to participate aggressively in the expanded role of the medical assistant.
6. Ability to learn about patients and their problems.
7. Must know or be willing to learn Electronic Medical Records system.
8. Computer skills required.
