:

Job Summary:
Facilitate and generate all referrals.

Contact insurance companies to obtain authorizations as needed.

Working knowledge and proficiency in dealing with HMO insurances and third party payor’s managed care and referrals.

Utilizes insurance verification systems (e.g. Navinet, Passport, Health Partners portal, etc.) to ensure insurance eligibility at the time-of-service.

Provides full range of front desk operations in a busy primary care practice (i.e. registration).

Ensures that the proper areas are accessed in Nextgen EPM/EHR at the time-of-service.

Records, communicates and deliver all messages assuring accuracy and timeliness.

Schedule/confirm patient appointments via Resource Scheduling System, Triage Schedule, and Nurse Only Schedule.

Verify patient’s insurance coverage via telephone contact with insurance company as well as capitation listing or insurance web site.

Provide full range of secretarial duties in a busy medical practice.

Provide customer service to patient families, physicians, and staff as needed.

Represents image of the practice to patients, community and institution through personal and telephone contact.

Cross cover in other sections as needed.

Other duties as assigned by administrator or supervisor.

Skills & Abilities:
Excellent customer service and problem solving skills.

Ability to handle fast paced/stressful situations in a calm and professional manner.

Previous computer experience required.

Medical terminology and CPT/ICD-9 coding required.

Excellent oral and written communication skills required.

Demonstrate initiative and ability to work independently.

Demonstrate good organizational skills and attention to detail/accuracy.

Previous experience working in a fast paced physician practice preferred.

Qualifications

:

Training & Education:
High School graduate or equivalent required.

Some college credits preferred.

Computer/data entry experience required.

Some medical terminology preferred.

Experience:
Minimum of two (2) years experience with computer registration/scheduling system required.

Minimum of two (2) years experience in medical office setting required.

Prior knowledge working/dealing with HMO’s and third party payor insurance required.

Knowledge on how to prepare and generate patient referrals required.
