Key Focus:
The Regional Director is accountable for USI sales in a defined market. This is achieved by establishing new relationships and maintaining and strengthening existing relationships with assigned production sources.


Sales Generation:
Analyzes market penetration and sales results to establish realistic but challenging targets for the sale of products within the defined territory.

Builds relationships with assigned production sources and provides products and services which address customer needs.

Delivers seminars within local markets which serve to educate production sources, employees and customers regarding John Hancock -- its vision, mission, values, products and services as well as the financial services industry in general.

Maintains a current understanding of local markets and competitive intelligence.

Timely and accurate reporting of sales activity results.


Strategic Business Direction:
Prepares, executes and monitors specific action plans which formally define performance goals for the following:

i. Total production by source

ii. Planned sales activities within the market

iii. Growth in the volume and quality of business generated

iv. Back office, Account Management and any other initiatives assigned

Develops recovery plans in response to situations where improvements are needed to achieve goals


Market Conduct and Compliance:
Understand and adhere to the Company's Market Conduct and Compliance policies and procedures.

Regularly communicate the policy distributors within the region.

Take appropriate measures to ensure field support staff and distributors throughout the sales process are following the policies.

Ensures that distributors meet selection criteria prior to contracting and sale of Company products.

Carries out NASD supervisory responsibilities as required by the Company

Bachelor's degree preferred.

Knowledge of the insurance industry, including product, underwriting, competitors products and positioning, case design methodology, mathematical, estate planning, and tax law.

Demonstrated business development skills by working with internal and external business stakeholders to increase profitability and market share and generate new business.

Ability to develop and maintain strong relationships with production sources.

Results driven professional, including the ability to continuously pursue individual and team goals.

Strong project management and leadership skills.

Ability to work effectively with sales support staff to leverage your time and improve your effectiveness.

Analytical mind-set, including the ability to identify business trends and risk/exposure.
