Job Description: We are currently looking for a dedicated individual to fill our open route driver position in Madison, WI. This position is responsible for driving flat-bed trailers for our Le Jeune Steel operation. The driver will be hauling steel (flat, coil, and structural) on a flat-bed trailer with a day cab tractor. This position is mostly regional driving with some local runs also available. The normal run is a two day run either to Chicago, Twin Cities, or Iowa. Since day cabs are used we have hotels set up for our drivers to stay in. So, ability to stay out of town at least 2 nights per week is required.
Key duties of this position: Hauling Steel on a Flat-Bed trailer Properly securing load to trailer Spot Tarping of trailers in inclement weather On-time and accurate delivery of freight Following al DOT regulations including log books, pre trip, and post trip inspections Collecting all paperwork required for the load
Hours: This position is a M-F position. The start times are varied depending on destination but will usually be leaving early A.M.
Pay: The average gross pay of this driver will be between $800-900 gross per week. Drivers are paid a combination of $.36 per mile, $16 for tarping, and $16 at beginning and end for chaining load. Single medical, dental, and vision coverage for as low as $25.00 per week (available the 1st of the month after 90 days of employment). 401(k) retirement savings plan with 1% company match. Minimum Requirements: Have a Class A CDL At least 1 year tractor/trailer driving experience Age 21 or older No preventable accidents in the last 2 years, and no DOT recordable/preventable accidents in the last 5 years No DUI/DWI, Careless/Reckless driving citations or revoked/suspended license in the past 5 years No more than 3 moving within the past 3 years Criminal Background Check Required Able to pass a complete DOT physical, drug screen and road test Able to lift up to 75 pounds Good customer service skills
