Pre-registers patients for outpatient services and office visits provided by hospital departments and hospital employed physicians by gathering complete, accurate social, demographic and financial information to complete the pre-registration process. Staff will take all incoming calls as they arrive on the 4300 line. Calls may originate from patients' homes, physician offices or point of service. Registration process to include: all patient information: correctly spelled name, date of birth, social security number, home address, phone number, family and or primary care physician. All guarantor information: correctly spelled name, date of birth, home address, home phone number, social security number, employer information. Appointment information: patient type, service type, admit type and service, date if appointment and time of 00001, admitting and attending physician fields. Insurance information to include: plan name, policy number, group number, claims address and provider inquiry phone number for the insurance plan. Completion of the occurrence code fields is also required. Inquiring as to secondary insurance coverage and completing all required fields as noted for primary coverage. Registrar will contact PCP for insurance information if unable to obtain information from the patient's family. Registration specialist will also preregister assigned departments, from the schedule, as needed. Maintains relations with authorization specialists, department and hospital staff, community physician offices and patient families.
High school graduation with a minimum of two years experience in a hospital, physician office and/or health plan organization is required. Excellent communications, customer service, organizational and problem solving skills required due to continuous contact with internal and external customers. Computer literacy in the pc environment along with 2 years experience in registration and scheduling systems and the ability to type a minimum of 35 words per minute is required.
