Reporting directly to the VP of Technical Field Operations, the Remote Technical Manager will support the tremendous technical engineering work load of planning, coordinating, vendor/tech employing, remote set up, and Campus Network continuity from as many as 98 venues to Master Control in SF, to support the production of 750-850 remote television productions for the upcoming Pac-12 Network’s seasons. The position is based in the Pac-12 Network Studio/Offices located in San Francisco.

Responsible for on-site surveys, managing on-site technical facilities, coordinating fly-packs, set up, on-site technical training of crew members and university students, remote production quality control, etc.

Tech Manager will be deployed to venues on a regular basis for trouble-shooting, managing remotes and/or doubling up with Unit Managers on large scale, prime events.

Manage the set-up of Mio transmission Fly-packs, training for onsite use, transmission to and from Pac-12 studios, etc.

Working very closely with the Director of Remote Operations, Production Managers, Mobile Unit/Facilities Scheduler, In-House Engineering staff and Crew Schedulers, the Tech Manager will act as the remote tech facilitator supporting the assigned producers and directors ensuring that their productions are technically sound

Minimum of 5 years of experience in remote event technical operations, preferably sports event operations

Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experiences

Excellent understanding and knowledge of current technical equipment and technology involved in the production of live sports events for a 24/7 Sports Network (transmission facilities, remote production units, audio, video, graphics, etc.)

Experience in managing remote engineering staff members, scheduling, supervising, technical problem solving within budgetary guidelines.

Excellent verbal, analytical, organizational and written communication skills

Sports event production budget managing experience preferred

Effective interpersonal skills; good judgment and ability to interact with different levels of management and teams

Ability to manage effectively numerous projects simultaneously while under very tight deadlines

Must be able to work weekends during certain times of the year

Passionate about Pac-12 Sports

Demonstrates ability to prioritize under time constraints and work successfully in a fast-paced environment

Experience working in a culturally diverse organization and supporting the values held by our unique employees, clients, sponsors, university faculty, and fans

Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, IE, etc.
