This Reporting Analyst/ Tools Developer position will work within the Microsoft Advertising Support team within the Microsoft Advertising business. The Business Analyst will be responsible for developing, designing and maintaining key operational metrics and reports for the Microsoft Advertising Support management team. The objective is to provide the management team with actionable business intelligence to optimize speed, cost, and quality of support. A key aspect is in reporting and analysis of support issue trends to help identify where ad platform product improvements and tool development would help improve the customer experience and reduce support costs.
The Microsoft Advertising Support team is focused on service recovery: we handle technical escalations from Microsoft Advertising sales teams and perform deep troubleshooting on advertising products and platforms. A key area of focus for the team is preparing to support the Yahoo! and Microsoft Search Alliance – a strategic initiative between our companies to create a competitive choice in search for advertisers and consumers. We are a global team comprised of 50+ talented Microsoft employees located in the United States, London, and Hong Kong.
We are looking for a highly motivated individual to drive impact to the Microsoft Advertising business through innovative reporting and analysis.
Analyze and validate Advertising Support operational data to identify trends, problems areas, and opportunities for improving customer experience.
Assist in defining the business requirements for data warehouse and reporting solutions.
Develop reports and contribute to reporting solutions based on business requirements.
Manage recurring reporting deliverables, including ad-hoc reporting requests.
Provide high level analysis on data trends and identify areas for further analysis.
5-7 years of work experience in a related field
.NET experience strongly preferred
Excellent analytical and technical skills.
Demonstrated ability to create complex SQL queries and have strong skills in the areas of data analysis and report automation.
Demonstrated experience with SQL Reporting Services (essential), Analysis Services, SharePoint and Report design.
Demonstrated experience managing SharePoint portals and using MOSS/Office web components.
Demonstrated expertise in business analysis, modeling and data management with strong attention to detail.
Experience working with Business Intelligence products (Microsoft BSM, ProClarify, or PPS).
Experience preparing business level data analysis.
Advanced Excel skills, including pivot tables, SQL querying, database structures, OLAP, DTS (Pivot Tables, Data Analysis Tool Pack.
