DESCRIPTION

Job Title: Research Analyst - DatabaseDepartment: Research Reports to: Director, Research and Information ResourcesThe following statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed. They are not intended to be construed as an exhaustive list of all responsibilities, duties and skills required of personnel so classified. Summary & Scope: Collect and analyze data; present data driven analyses. Assist the Research Department staff with data entry, data manipulation, and data retrieval functions for various departments within United Way of Central Indiana (UWCI). Work closely with the members of the Research Department to support the use of UWCI's donor records, facilitate database use, maintain data integrity, and generate reports to meet the needs of UWCI, primarily the Resource Development staffs

DUTIES

Essential Duties & Responsibilities include the following: Manage multiple projects that require the extraction of data from the database. Compile data, run routine reports, and prepare statistical analyses Assist in updating and maintaining the confidential organizational database to ensure current and accurate information Ensure systems and procedural safeguards for protecting all sensitive personal and financial data are in place and practiced at all times. Maintain consistency and integrity in database Facilitate and coordinate data input across varying departments of the organization in accordance with project timelines Manage the systematic storage and tracking of constituent and prospect information, that reflect the nature of the relationship and experience with individual and business prospects, including the accumulation of source documents and supporting materials Assist with the coordination of a business account management program by: Formally assigning new business prospects to staff and/or volunteers Ranking prospects on factors including capacity, interest, past giving and propensity Tracking and maintaining current lists of prospects and reporting the frequency and nature of contact between UWCI staff and/or volunteers and its prospects and donors Maintaining prospect management information in the database Maintain ethical standards and confidentially with all sensitive personal and financial data Promote a cooperative spirit within the organization and among internal and external United Way participants Perform other duties as assigned Other Duties & ResponsibilitiesAssist Database Administrator with training staff on database processes and procedures Utilize Geographic Information System (GIS) software and other technology to assist with community impact research and analysis projects Develop familiarity with the UWCI implementation of CRM (Stratus LIVE) database at a level sufficient to serve as the secondary communication link between UPIC and UWCI management and staff and to serve as the secondary internal subject area expert

QUALIFICATIONS

Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily and be physically present in the office. The requirements listed below are representative of the basic knowledge, skills, and/or abilities required. Education and/or Experience: Bachelor's degree in computer science, nonprofit management, business, a social science discipline, or another related discipline with 1-3 years relevant experience in research or database management. Candidate must be able to prioritize and perform multiple projects through to completion working effectively and independently under strict deadlines. Language Skills: Ability to write reports and business correspondence. Ability to respond to inquires or complaints from internal staff or volunteers in the community. Effective written and verbal communication skills required. Other Skills and Abilities: Computer proficient with database experience. Must be able to input and extract data from the database. Self teach new information about the database and train staff. Be able to read and install new software applications. A demonstrated interest in the non-profit sector, and strong computer and database skills with a working knowledge of electronic and library research are required; knowledge of Microsoft CRM (Stratus Live), Access and SQL are preferred.
