The EdD Program within the K-12 Educational Leadership Unit is seeking an individual to serve in a full-time contractual faculty position at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor. Contractual appointments carry an initial fixed term of up to three years, are granted all the rights and benefits accorded members of the full-time faculty under the union contract with potential for converting the fixed term appointment to a more permanent non-fixed term. Primary responsibilities are to teach and advise students in the Educational Leadership Doctoral Program (ELDP). Successful candidates will be comfortable in teaching in a program that is based on the adult learning model, a cohort structure, linked to the ELCC standards, and rooted in social justice principles and the preparation of social justice leaders. He or she is also expected to teach as part of the doctoral seminar courses as well as instruct courses within the EdD Program or other programs within the Educational Leadership Unit, serve on dissertation committees, and direct dissertations.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Teach quantitative methods and research courses as assigned in the EdD and/or CAGS and Master’s programs, along with other courses deemed appropriate, including doctoral seminar courses.
2. Advise students in the doctoral program.
3. Serve as a member of dissertation committees as either content specialist and/or quantitative methodologist.
4. Serve on dissertation committees, as chair when appropriate.
5. Perform ongoing scholarship related to the Unit that reflects positively on the unit’s mission and vision (e.g., presentations, publications, other agreed-to scholarly artifacts, pursuit and awarding of external funding).
6. Provide statistical research and grant writing support to unit and School of Education goals.
7. Provide service to the College.
8. Attend contractually defined College- and School-wide meetings and activities.
9. Provide service to appropriate professional organizations in order to further the Program’s reputation and visibility in accordance to doctoral faculty evaluation guidelines.
10. Stated research agenda that will be actively pursued.
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES: - Help with School of Education or College in marketing, recruitment, and retention efforts as requested.
- Assist with accreditation-related activities as required.
- Help review and/or redesign existing courses and programs, create new courses and programs as requested.
- Work with program chairs to improve the quality of curriculum and instruction within the School of Education and the College at large.
- Represent the interests of the Program, Unit, and School at College functions as well as with external stakeholders.
• Embraces working with students from traditionally under-represented groups in an adult learning environment.
• Evidence of a commitment to educational research to advance social democracy.
• Knowledge of IT and its use in the classroom. Ability to use MS Office suite programs. Expert level knowledge of SPSS and functional knowledge of other statistical packages such as SAS.
EXPERIENCE: EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
• Earned terminal degree degree in educational research, educational leadership, or closely related field
• Scholarship appropriate to level of position and professional activity
• Statement of research agenda that supports the unit’s goals and will be actively pursued
• Demonstrated experience in teaching quantitative educational research courses
• Demonstrated experience and expertise in designing and performing quantitative research activities in educational environments.
• Prior higher education full-time teaching experience at the graduate level.
• Interest in advancing social justice research agendas.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE PREFERRED:
• Three years experience as K-12 educational leadership experience as at least a principal or equivalent.
• Active or recent certification as a site level or central office level administrator is a plus.
• Experience serving in doctoral committees.
• Major preference for prior dissertation chair experience.
• Three years K-12 teaching experience. Prior higher education experience in teaching quantitative methods courses in a post-Master’s/doctoral degree program.
• Demonstrated visibility in professional associations as a result of active participation or the holding of a leadership position.
PHYSICAL EFFORT REQUIRED:
• Lifting up to 25 pounds is possible.
• Travelling to different teaching sites is possible based on classroom location and type.
