NORC at the University of Chicago is actively seeking a qualified Research Assistant or Research Analyst to support the International Department in the Chicago Loop office.
Statistical analyses of primary and secondary data, case-level review of survey data with detailed documentation of results, support of data analysis including preparation of memos, tables, and graphs based on findings, literature reviews, some translation between English and Spanish or English and French, general research support related to research conducted for international entities and U.S. federal government.
Bachelor Degree in social sciences required, Master’s Degree preferred. Degrees in other subjects may be considered, if other relevant skills apply;
Excellent understanding of Spanish is required (written and spoken);
Strong SAS skills required; Experience with other computer-based data analysis also a plus (e.g. Excel, SPSS);
Computer-Assisted Personal Interviewing (CAPI), or systems testing and data review preferred;
Outstanding interpersonal, critical reasoning, analytic, and writing skills;
Ability to prioritize tasks and findings in keeping with project goals;
Strong proficiency with MS Office software;
Experience with data bases is preferred.
The incumbent must demonstrate strong attention to detail and the ability to work effectively with limited oversight.
