The Research Assistant II will support the research efforts of multiple labs within the RNA Biology Program.

Under general direction, will maintain mammalian and Drosophilia tissue culture and Drosophila stocks; manage and oversee the lab ordering system; stock supplies; make/replenish common lab supplies such as media, chemicals, buffers, fly food, etc.; and other related duties and tasks as required or assigned.

Requires a bachelor’s degree in a biological science, chemistry, physics or a related field, and a minimum of 1 year (and typically up to 5 years) of directly related experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been attained.

Must have previous training in and experience with basic molecular biology techniques such as RNA isolation, recombinant DNA construction, immunoblotting, immunoprecipitation, and transfection. Demonstrated experience with tissue culture is required.

Requires the ability to work independently as well as part of a collaborative team, strong organizational, analytical and interpersonal skills, professional-level computer skills and the ability to learn lab specific systems and hardware as needed.
