Under general direction of senior research staff, conducts activities to support research projects. Exercises judgment within defined procedures and practices.

Additional Summary Specific to Job
Excellent opportunity to work as a Research Technician with the OB/GYN clinical research department assisting the Principle Investigator with research studies for low-risk and high-risk pregnancies. Studies include multi-center RCT's and institutional research. Research Assistant will assist with activities in lab, labor & delivery unit, and/or out-patient clinic depending on interests and skill sets. Duties may include collection and processing biological specimens (blood, amniotic fluid, urine, and tissue), interviewing patients, completion of case review forms, screening medical charts, data entry, office duties, and other duties as assigned. Training and certification for standing operating procedure for conduct of these activities required.Conducts research activities, under general direction, according to research. Research activities may include some or all of the following: patient recruiting and screening, traditional laboratory experiments and activities, informatics, and/or animal laboratories Maintains adequate level of lab supplies to assure timely achievement of lab activities.
Maintains accurate and timely records to include notebooks, records, databases, etc. as needed by the research project.
Monitors laboratory and/or other supplies to ensure sufficient inventory to support research projects. Ensures quality of reagents or other supplies.
Stays abreast of new and updated protocols for research department
Complies with all governmental and University policies, rules, regulation and codes.
Performs other duties as assigned.

Organizational Requirements
Bachelor's degree with a minimum of one year related experience or relevant experience in lieu of education. Depending on project(s) bilingual (English/Spanish) skills may be required. Depending on project(s), Certification for Protection of Human Research Subjects may be required or must be complete within 5 days of employment.

Departmental Requirements/Preferences
Bilingual candidates (Spanish and English) preferred. Phlebotomy training and experience preferred. One year of related experience in research. Must be reliable, punctual, organized, efficient, and adaptable.
