This position is of a Research Assistant who will manage a core imaging facility in a neuroscience laboratory at Columbia University / the Research Foundation for Mental Health (RFMH), in which rodent preparations are used to the study the contribution of hippocampal function to behavior. This project was recently funded by the New York State Stem Cell Initiative (NYSTEM).

The successful candidate will be responsible for the maintenance and the optimization of hardware associated with a confocal microscope, a multiphoton microscope, and an imaging workstation. Other responsibilities will include training users, maintaining finances for the core facility, running imaging experiments, and subsequent analysis of imaging data. This individual will be required to have significant experience in microscopy techniques and preferably programming language (MATLAB and Python) in order to extract relevant information from large datasets generated during imaging.
