Functions as a research assistant in epidemiology, general health science or public health policy activities. This position will provide assistance to higher level specialists in the principles, theories, techniques and methods of health science specifically related to the programmatic assignment area.

Support Policy Team needs on a variety of programmatic and legislative activities that will help promote the importance of patient safety and the elimination of healthcare-associated infections (HAIs), and related programmatic priorities. Integrate programmatic and policy objectives for the laboratory, surveillance, outbreak investigations, prevention, and education components of the Division's work.
Support and coordinate work with partner groups, such as ASTHO, and other federal agencies
Maintain and analyze database of state legislation to assist in public and Congressional queries
Develop responses which translate scientific data into plain language to communicate division priorities to a wider audience
Assist policy staff in support of grantee requests for technical assistance
Coordinate Outpatient Safety Workgroup activities, such as organizing conference calls, developing meeting agendas and tracking action items to ensure appropriate follow-up
Assist policy staff in developing reports on key outcomes for workgroup activities related to state HAI legal evaluation
Research federal and state policies related to program activities as needed (e.g., Medicaid and Medicare policies related to payment and their impact on HAIs or patient safety adverse events)
Assists with the collection, processing, compilation, computation, analysis, editing, and/or presentation of research and survey data. Develop tables, reports, and presentations for these projects as needed.
Support to senior level specialist charged responsibility for conducting projects focused on the prevention of healthcare associated infections, specifically related to injection safety practices, and healthcare settings such as dialysis and long term care.
Coordination and project management activities will include a variety of tasks related to research and project coordination on these topics.

Proficiency with SAS preferable
Proficiency in Microsoft Applications preferable
