Candidate will be engaged in induced pluripotential stem cell (iPSC) work. Project entails taking human patient cells, reprogramming them to iPSCs and then differentiating them to myospheres (3D muscle structures in culture). The myospheres will be analyzed for metabolic properties including metabolomics, lipidomics, and mitochondrial function using a Seahorse instrument. Under general direction, candidate will plan and manage all aspects of the iPSC research project including independently analyzing results and drawing conclusions. Candidate will be expected to troubleshoot problems and develop solutions to technical problems of moderate to high scope using independent thinking, literature, and colleagues as resources to solve problems, and other related duties and tasks as required or assigned.

Requires a bachelors degree in biological sciences or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been attained. Requires a minimum of 5 years (and typically up to 10 years) of directly related experience in induced pluripotential stem cell (iPSC) or related stem cell work. Candidates with a masters degree, a minimum of 2 years (and typically up to 5 years) are required. Successful candidates must be experienced in the iPSC area or be willing to be stationed in Gainesville temporarily to learn this technology from the iPSC core facility at University of Florida.
