The Clinical Research Nurse works 40 hrs a week within the Sarcoma Disease Center. The nurse collaborates with a group of 8 providers and is responsible for the design, implementation and evaluation of numerous clinical trials within the sarcoma program.
The primary responsibilities are patient assessment and coordination of patient care in ambulatory setting related to clincial trial requirements. Strong interpersonal, organizational and communication skills are required, as it is necessary to collaborate with and direct various professional and technical personnel. The nurse must have expertise with current therapies related to solid tumor malignancies, and utilize evidence based practice in the management of patients undergoing oncological therapy based trials. Knowledge of current literature and a commitment to continued learning are also required
The nurse should have a working knowledge of the clinical trial process, attention to detail, and work autonomously advocating patient needs across many service lines.
Experience: 2 years of nursing experience; 1 year of nursing research experience, or equivalent, OCN preferred.
