Design and perform stability studies in support of formulation research and product development
• Collaborate with product formulators to develop new and improved products from lab to commercial scale
• Anticipate, investigate and resolve problems with raw materials and finished products as needed
• Collaborate with product developers, engineers and flavor chemists on ingredient formulations for product applications
• Maintain familiarity with latest developments in appropriate areas of food science, agricultural science, regulatory affairs and new ingredient technology to promote product development
• Identify and implement solutions to improve project workflows and processes
• Design, analyze, summarize and issue written reports to document project research to team members and management
• Apply project management principles to manage and execute multiple project work streams to ensure development activities are aligned with project timelines
• Assist in the documentation of Standard Operating Procedures, established performance criteria and activities to support project history
• Collaborate with cross functional teams and external vendors on project initiatives
• Mentor colleagues and product developers on structural properties of ingredients, their interaction and effects on various tobacco products
Position Qualification:
• Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry or Chemical Engineering with relevant intern experience or MS in Organic Chemistry or Chemical Engineering with three or more years relevant work experience or BS in Organic Chemistry or Chemical Engineering with five or more years relevant work experience
• Advance fundamental understanding of organic chemistry; structural/composition/reactivity relationship
• Strong project management skills; ability to manage multiple workflows
• Prior industrial or manufacturing (cGMP) experience is desired but not essential
• Demonstrated ability to work and contribute in team environment
• Proficient in Microsoft Office software
• Strong written and oral communication skills are required
