Provide software engineering consultancy and management to sustain the research, development, dissemination, and commercialization of software solutions to support smart grid cyber and energy security.
Seek and secure external funding to support basic research. Implement software and general engineering methodologies to elicit, specify, design, develop and maintain software and hardware solutions. Develop cyber-infrastructure software and hardware solutions to support the center's mission. Mentor undergraduate and graduate students from majors relevant (e.g. computer science, electrical engineering, systems engineering). Instruct undergraduate and graduate computer science courses relevant to the center's mission. Lead and manage the research and development of physical and technological solutions that can be used to solve the intellectual challenges associated with the projects in the center. Apply geospatial and big data theories and practices to cyber and energy security projects. Conduct reviews, analysis, and evaluation of literature related to cyber and energy security. Document and publish basic research findings in peer-reviewed journals and conferences. Write technical reports and other documentation such as handbooks and bulletins, for use by center's staff, management, and customers. Support the technical review of in-house developed hardware, software, and cyber-infrastructure for commercialization purpose. Provide technical support and instruction to staff or customers regarding equipment standards, assisting with specific, difficult in-service engineering. Operate computer-assisted software engineering proprietary software to perform software engineering-oriented tasks. Prepare documentation containing information such as confidential descriptions and specifications of proprietary hardware and software, product development and introduction schedules, product costs, and information about product performance weaknesses. Support the educational efforts of the center to disseminate the center's research findings and the culture of cyber security
Other related functions as assigned.
PhD in Computer Science and one year minimum experience in applied knowledge related to cyber and energy security for smart grids, software engineering, and related to the statement of duties and responsibilities; or equivalent combination of education and experience. General working knowledge of software engineering industry practices, standards and technology areas.
Equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.
