The main purpose of this position is to contribute in the design and cloning of AAV vector plasmid expression cassettes for therapeutic programs within the UNC Gene Therapy Center. This position will provide assistance as needed to the PI and Director of Gene Therapy.
Bachelorâ??s or Master's Degree in Chemistry, Biology, Biochemistry, or similar science is preferred. The candidate must have proven experience in molecular biology, plasmid design and cloning using restriction enzyme digest and PCR, PCR primer design, DNA sequencing, plasmid manufacturing/purification, experience using molecular biology software tools (example Vector Nti), agarose gels, protein gels. Experience with tissue culture, aseptic technique, mammalian cell transfection and working with viruses also preferred. The experienced candidate must be able to work independently and be able to effectively carry out research experiments and observe, collect and record data for research purposes and analysis.
