The Aderem Lab at Seattle BioMed is seeking a Research Technician to start in February, 2013. The position involves experimental research in support of several projects, ranging from analysis of candidate Tuberculosis and Malaria vaccines, to analysis of genetic circuits that control host responses to pathogens.
Candidates will be fully integrated into ongoing projects and are expected to design, conduct and analyze experiments independently. Enthusiasm, self-motivation and initiative to learn new methods and to perform work efficiently and carefully is essential. Training in techniques that are unfamilar to the candidate will be provided. Candidates need to have at least a bachelor´s degree in a matching field.
Candidates should have molecular biology and tissue culture experience and be able to reliably manage large, multi-variable experiments involving dozens, if not hundreds, of precious samples.
The following are required:
Experience with tissue culture of mammalian cell lines: including over-expression studies and generation of stable mammalian cell lines by retroviral transduction.
RNA extraction and real-time PCR
Excellent communication skills.
Excellent organizational skills
Willingness to work with mouse tissues and live animals
Familiarity with the following techniques is desirable:
Cellular infection assays
Western blots, IPs
Proficiency in statistical analysis software
