The University of Illinois Cancer Center (CC) and the Center for Clinical and Translation Science (CCTS) are seeking candidates for a Research Specialist position. As part of this dynamic CC and CCTS teams, the Research Specialist, Protocol Developer contributes to the design and delivery of research grants and contracts and collaborates with researchers, the CC Oncology Clinical Trials Office and CCTS administration to develop, execute and interpret research protocols and financial support on individual projects/clinical trials. Creates and processes grants and appropriate budgets development through the university systems and external funding agencies.

Duties:
Coordinate and process all clinical research studies/trials, including budgetary components related to physician and staff commitment, appropriate supplies and expenses to open and/or continue participation in research clinical trials. Develop and implement protocols and fiscal management systems for internal and external research clinical trials, complete and process appropriate documentation as outlined by sponsors and the university. Plan, oversee personnel appointment on projects, prepare and approve salary recovery documents, monitor project expenses, identify and resolve discrepancies; interpret and ensure fiscal compliance with sponsor, university and third party regulations.

Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in science or related field required, master’s degree preferred. Minimum of 3 years research experience required, grant and contract management and experience in a clinical trials setting desired. Proficiency with information systems and knowledge experience investigating for costs related to clinical research trials desired; knowledge of UIC Office of Sponsored Research policies and procedures a plus. Requires excellent written, oral and interpersonal communication skills, as well as a strong ability to organize, prioritize, and coordinate multiple activities to meet deadlines. Must be proficient in MS Office.
