Altisource Asset Management (AAMC), a publicly listed asset management company, is located in picturesque St. Croix in the U.S. Virgin Islands. Its initial client is Altisource Residential Corporation (RESI), a publicly-traded real estate investment trust that focuses on providing affordable rental homes in the U.S. AAMC's ability to acquire properties at a discount, its experience in loan resolutions, and its infrastructure in home renovation and capabilities in managing rental properties provide competitive advantage in the single-family home rental business world.

AAMC is looking for a Researcher/Economist, Residential Housing Market to track the residential housing market and to indentify future business opportunities. The successful candidate will forecast trends in employment, income level, household formation, housing stock supply-demand imbalance and asking rents at national, regional and local market level. He or she will share knowledge and perspective with team members. This position will report to C level executive directly and has excellent career advancement opportunities. The ideal candidate has a strong ability in putting economic theories to use and can function well in a fast paced environment with minimal oversight. Post-graduate experience in research or analytical work related to housing and housing markets is preferred.

Responsibilities will include:

Apply economic theory and statistical methods to analyze economic data
Present findings to senior management on a variety of topics including regional economic and housing conditions
Develop quarterly residential real estate markets commentary on major CBSAs
Research the optimal pricing strategies for rent determination
Develop new initiatives related to the mortgage and real estate business

Qualifications & Experience:

PhD or Masters in Economics from a well-respected institution with a concentration in Regional or Urban, Real Estate , Macro and/or Labor Economics
Familiarity with U.S. economic data
Experience in both theoretical and empirical research Experience in mortgage or real estate analytical work is a plus
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions independently
Ability to present and communicate complex ideas to technical and nontechnical audiences
Ability to work with global, cross-functional teams in a fast-paced environment
