Resident Care Technicians at MMHI work under the direction of the Registered Nurse and Unit Manager and participate in the provision of nursing care and treatment for psychiatric patients. These positions complete patient care tasks within the role of the Certified Nursing Assistant, including assisting patients with personal care and participating in the development and implementation of treatment plans and therapeutic activities for patients; promoting and reinforcing socially acceptable behavior; performing security-related responsibilities necessary to assure a safe and secure environment; and when necessary applying approved physical-control techniques to restrain patient(s) who may be a danger to themselves or others.

Due to the nature of the position, all applicants who may be appointed to this position will be required to allow the Department of Health Services to conduct a background check to determine whether the circumstances of any conviction may be related to the job being filled.

Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities :
Ability to read, comprehend, and interpret charts/diagrams, and policies/procedures; ability to make visual observations and report accurately and interpersonal relations skills.

IMPORTANT NOTES: 1) Applicants must have a Tuberculosis test, which will be administered by medical personnel approved by the facility; and 2) Applicants will be required to pass a pre-employment physical exam and physical therapy evaluation before starting; and 3) On-site Employer-paid training will be provided to appointees who are not currently certified as Nursing Assistants (CNAs). New Employee Orientation training is provided to all appointees, which includes training in physical control techniques and therapeutic interventions with patients. Successful completion of all training is required.
