The Senior Resident Engineer/Project Manager serves as the company and client representative at the work site to ensure that the work performed by the contractor is in accordance with the plans and specifications. Also responsible for managing multiple projects to include preparing and implementing staffing plans, client satisfaction and monthly invoices. Senior Resident Engineer/Project Manager is also expected to assist the local Construction Services manager with marketing and business development throughout southern California

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Managing project documentation and assuring contract compliance with client requirements
  • Abide by and enforce construction safety rules and regulations
  • Review contractor pay estimates and submittals
  • Perform field inspection duties
  • Direct field inspection/support staff
  • Coordinate utility relocations
  • Monitor traffic control
  • Ensure the application of project specifications and the execution of plans
  • Provide written progress, technical and special issues reports
  • Prepare detailed cost estimates for the different activities required for the project
  • Work with the contractor on coordination of work
  • Act as liaison with client Project Manager
  • Manage project staff including sub consultants
  • Conduct weekly communication with senior staff
  • Mentor/train staff members
  • Implement firm’s quality management plan
  • Prepare responses to Request for Proposals
  • Prepare Statement of Qualifications
  • Prepare and implement business development interviews with clients
  • Assist with interviewing and hiring potential candidates
  • Other duties as assigned

Requires a Bachelor Degree in Engineering, a P.E. License (State of California preferred); 10 or more years experience with the concepts and practices within the transportation construction field. Must have successfully served as Resident Engineer on at least one transportation project with a minimum construction value of $10 million. Must be experienced in oversight of staff and sub consultants and have the ability to effectively and efficiently deal with clients to assist in the resolution of project issues. Must be able to write effective and concise proposals, reports and qualification statements. Previous construction management experience for public agencies and Caltrans preferred.
