Atkins seeks an energetic, highly motivated, detail-oriented, self-starter to join our Reno office staff as a Resident Engineer II. This position will offer field assistance to the Sr. Resident Engineer on the administration of diverse construction projects. This person will continue to develop an understanding of construction methods and the translation of engineering plans and specifications into constructed product. Upholds engineering ethics and standards of conduct. Typical duties and responsibiliities of the job include:
Provides engineering services during construction activities by reviewing shop drawings for conformance with specifications; prepares records and progress reports defining construction progress; observes construction procedures under the guidance of a more experience professional, and evaluates the results from quality control testing.
Researches feasibility of alternative design approaches, site conditions, and regulatory agency specifications.
Contributes to the development of specifications and permit applications, and writes miscellaneous reports.
Prepares preliminary man-hour, cost and material quantity estimates.
Coordinates with other disciplines as requireed.
Performs field observations of construction where appropriate.
Performs such other duties as the supervisor may from time to time deem necessary.
Appropriately Qualified Candidates will have the following skills and experience:
Bachelors degree in construction management, civil engineering, or related field. With Associate's degree, eight years of related experience is required. Without a degree, ten years of related experience is required.
Some experience in electronic job data entry is required.
Ability to perform mathematical calculations, to understand contract plans and specifications, organize information, and use PC and applicable software.
Technical writing, computer and communications skills required. CAD skills preferred.
Nevada EI or EIT desired.
