Neighborhood Housing Services, Inc. (NHS) is recruiting a NeighborWorks Americorps VISTA position to serve as a Resident Services Coordinator for the program year 2013-2014.
NHS is an affordable housing and community development, nonprofit organization located in Boise, Idaho. Our purpose is to innovate housing solutions for Idaho's underserved populations, which we accomplish through several services, including: affordable apartment communities, acquisition and rehabilitation, homebuyer education, mortgage lending, foreclosure prevention and community revitalization efforts (Paint The Town ™ and Rake Up Boise ™ ). The Resident Services Coordinator will work to build the capacity of resident services at NHS' four apartment communities. The main objectives of the position are to understand resident needs, identify opportunities for improvement and enhancement, and build processes or partnerships to implement agreed upon actions. Tasks may include: conducting resident surveys, focus groups and interviews, collecting and analyzing data, participating in apartment activities, identifying best practices, presenting recommendations, building new programs, partnerships or processes as identified and agreed upon, and building resident leaders. This position reports to the Community Development Director.

NeighborWorks Americorps VISTAs will receive a $928/month stipend, a $5,500 education award, and professional development and training opportunities. Discounted housing accommodations are possible – to be handled on an individual basis upon placement. Other Americorps VISTA benefits include health coverage, child care allowance, and relocation allowance. VISTAs must attend a Pre-Service Orientation in August 2013 and begin service immediately following. Service ends one year after start date.
