I. Position Summary:

Under medical direction the position provides for the implementation and coordination of Respiratory Care procedures based upon the Policies and Practices of the Respiratory Care Department. In addition to the performance of all routine respiratory procedures, the Respiratory Practitioner will be responsible for special procedures, within his/her scope of practice, maintaining and improving clinical competence, practicing universal precautions, maintaining and cleaning equipment, and performing any other duties deemed necessary by the shift supervisor. Also provides consultation, collaboration, and education to the medical staff, nursing, multi-disciplinary care team members, and patients/families.

II. Position Requirements:

A. Licensure/Certification/Registration:

NBRC Certification, NBRC Registration

Current Colorado State License

Current Basic Life Support Certification

Advanced Cardiac Life Support preferred

Pediatric Advanced Life Support preferred

NRP preferred

(Must complete all preferred certifications within one year of hire)

B. Education:

Graduate of AMA accredited Respiratory Therapist program

C. Experience:

6 months previous experience

D. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Must have effective verbal and written communication in order to communicate in a clear, concise manner with

Staff, employees, patients, public and physicians. Knowledge of respiratory principles and procedures.

Implements and coordinates Respiratory Care to patients based on cardiopulmonary assessment.
