The Post Adoption Resource Center (PARC) is designed to provide support services to adoptive and pre-adoptive parents which are adoption sensitive and meet the needs of these families. Major goals of the program are to prevent disruption of pre-adoptive placements, prevent the dissolution of finalized adoptions, and prevent the return of children into the foster care system. Services are consumer driven, accessible, committed to family empowerment, and make use of community services. Services include information and referral, Parent Support groups, Respite, Case planning, GAP camp, After School Programming, Parent training, Professional training and consultation group, and Advocacy.
Parsons PARC program received a one year grant that is scheduled through the end of April 2013. We are currently recruiting a per diem Respite Worker to work less than 20 hours per week to work as apart of this new grant. This position provides respite to the children and families who have adopted. The work is performed either in the home or, more frequently, in the community.
Most hours worked will be in the evenings and weekends.
Provide supervision to children while providing respite
Plan and participate with children in age appropriate activities which foster social skills development
Confer with the parent to insure that activities planer are approved by the parent; follow parent’s expectations regarding behavioral expectations and discipline
AA degree or higher
Up to date on Therapeutic Crisis Intervention
Experience in working with children with special needs.
Patient, responsible, reliable, dependable, able to work nights
Ability to work with special needs children with behavioral and/or emotional difficulties.
