Old City Paint is looking for a Retail Assistant Store Manager in the Ambler, PA area.

Summary: The primary responsibly of the Assistant Store Manager is to assist the Store Manager in the operations and profitability of the store.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Store Operations:
Assist the store manager in maintaining the store’s appropriate inventory levels to ensure that it meets customer needs and is aligned with budget.

Assist the store manager in controlling inventory losses through proper controls and notations.

Assisting the store manager in controlling expenses.

Ensure that the store is properly opened and closed in accordance with company policy.

Complete all paperwork reports in a timely and accurate manner.

Maintain merchandising standards established by store managers and /or operational managers including window displays, sales floor displays, promotional displays etc.

Actively participate in store activities including unloading of trucks, stocking shelves, carrying merchandise out for the customer, ability to lift weight of merchandise and deliver paint when needed.

Customer Focus:
Assist the store manager in resolving customer issues in a proper and efficient manner.

Assist all customers in a professional and timely manner upon them entering the retail store.

Answer customer telephone calls promptly and in an appropriate manner.

Provide knowledgeable assistance to customers for all product lines and services offered by the retail store.

Ensure that the physical appearance of the store is maintained and all equipment is in excellent working condition.

Suggestively sell additional merchandise to the customer to assist the customer in completing their projects.

Financial Management:
Assist the store manager in monitoring accounts payable, accounts receivable and banking procedures. Resolve problems as necessary.

Understand and utilize various business reports to identify sales, gross margin, and expense control opportunities.

Understand and follow the company’s purchasing policies and procedures.

Account Management:
Provide support in the development of new accounts and increase sales of current accounts through a targeted sales initiative.

Assist store manager in ensuring that commercial accounts are properly set up and administered.

Assist store managers with outside sales calls when necessary.

Human Resources:
Assist in the supervision of employees.

Assist in the recruitment, selection, and hiring of store personnel as needed.

Help ensure that all store employees are trained and have the appropriate knowledge of our products in order to properly recommend them to customers.

Ensure employees deliver excellent customer service.

Encourage a team-oriented working environment through good communication.

Help in conducting performance reviews.

Help administer corrective action in accordance with company policy.

Required Skills

Requires a two or four year college degree or equivalent work experience.

Minimum of 2 years retail experience.

Background in finance or sales preferable.

Effective financial planning and management skills.

Demonstrated selling, customer service and negotiation skills

Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

Ability to lead.

Human Resource skills a plus.

Basic computer skills.

Job involves a wide variety of tasks including bending, lifting, and sitting. Individual must be able to lift and move at least 50 pounds on a regular basis and occasionally lift and move 75 pounds.

Individual will usually be required to work a minimum of 50 hours per week.
