will supervise a staff to conduct in-depth credit risk analysis for the Mortgage Banking portfolio; identify potential adverse credit quality trends; conduct statistical risk segmentation using internal and external loan characteristics; and provide senior management with actionable policy recommendations based on actual empirical findings.
In this position, you will be responsible for:
a staff of risk analysts to conduct analytical and quantitative projects on credit risk issues impacting the mortgage banking portfolio
Developing frameworks for assessing key risk drivers of portfolio performance and profitability throughout the entire loan cycle (early delinquency through loss) using programs such as SAS, CART, or CHAID
Assessing and quantifying impact of external economic variables (HPA, unemployment, interest rates) on credit performance and credit quality mix of portfolio
Producing ad-hoc reports summarizing portfolio credit performance; identifying adverse credit quality trends across origination vintages; and profiling different segments of the portfolio
Preparing comprehensive overviews of portfolio performance and reviewing them with senior management
Effectively communicating results from empirical analysis to senior management and recommending
actions or credit policy changes
Developing innovative decision-science tools for senior management aimed at facilitating understanding of
impact on portfolio exposure and losses from different risk scenarios
Ensuring that analysts have the ability to access appropriate data from multiple internal and external sources (Credit Data Mart, Info. One, etc.) using different programs/languages
(SAS, SQL, Business Objects, etc.)
7+ years analytical experience, preferably in credit risk management and/or mortgage banking

Knowledge of SQL, Unix, and other data programming languages also desirable
Good understanding of key risk metrics, as well as business profitability and financial indicators
2+ years experience in supervising staff to work on complex analytical projects
Good communication skills; able to translate technical data into simple business presentations;
able to communicate clearly to senior management
Proactive and innovative with strong problem solving skills
B.S. in Economics, Finance, Statistics, Mathematics, Operations Research or other quantitative fields
M.A. / M.S. in a quantitative science or CFA designation (or progress towards)
