Position Summary:
This position is responsible for driving a truck to daily routes. The Route Driver provides residential pick-up and store delivery services by efficiently organizing routes to ensure timely pick-ups from donors and timely and courteous delivery to our buyer’s stores.

Essential Functions:
§ Regular and reliable attendance is required

§ Maintain appropriate, professional relationships with supervisors, coworkers, NWC Staff and the public

§ Provide excellent customer service at all times

§ Maintain work-appropriate dress, grooming, and personal hygiene

§ Assemble necessary materials and organize daily route in a time-efficient manner

§ Pick up donations at scheduled stops while operating company vehicle in safe and legal manner; Completely unload truck at assigned store

§ Ensure proper maintenance of company vehicle by:
Returning truck to base and refueling at end of day

Examining vehicle, including checking the fluids

Reporting defects to supervisor

Delivering vehicle to maintenance facility, as directed

§ Maintain accurate record of donation on route sheet; leave donor tax receipt per guidelines

§ Report problems, and submit route counts and completed paperwork to dispatch in an accurate, and timely manner

§ Follow guidelines for safe lifting, carrying, and stacking

§ Work with Thrift Sales team to accomplish production goals

§ Attend all scheduled staff meetings

§ Actively participate in Loss Prevention efforts

Other Functions:
Able to drive Bins Routes and Special Service routes as needed; able to clean and service clothing bins, service special events/stops and pick up missed stops as needed

Job Specifications:
Education/Certification:
Must have Washington State driver’s license, an acceptable five (5) year driving record, and good map reading skills

Experience:
Two (2) years driving experience with one (1) year route driving experience preferred

Skills & Abilities:
Must be physically able to lift 5 lbs. to 50 lbs. on a consistent basis, with the average weight about 25 lbs.

Knowledge and ability to practice safe lifting and other safety techniques

Maintain even temper when working under pressure

Provide high quality customer service

Work effectively with others but also able to work independently

Sustained concentration

Plan and effectively prioritize

High level of quality control/accuracy

Problem solve

Read and understand written information

Communicate clearly in writing and orally

Contact with Others:
§ Occasional donor contact communicating Northwest Center mission and reasons why cannot accept certain donations

§ Daily interaction with store employees at truck unload to ensure proper accounting of products

§ Frequent contact with dispatch and supervisors face to face, by phone and text, to complete daily work load of department

Work Direction Over Others:
No direct reports but will infrequently direct outside labor (temporary help) in the loading and unloading of trucks and trailers

Supervision Received:
Limited supervision; generally proceeds on own initiative in compliance of company policy and able to train others

Able to complete assigned stops and routes in limited time frame; days vary depending on need
