The Position of Route Relief Driver consists of, but is not limited to covering routes for vacation, sick , medical leave, etc. Service existing accounts. Solicit new business. Maintain equipment. Maintain warehouse in branch locations. Order and maintain inventory for truck. Accounting and paperwork. Position requires occasional overnight and travel to branches. Load route truck and other duties assigned. Days, hours and shift varies.

Essential Functions:
Service Existing Accounts

Maintain sufficient stock levels to meet their needs and insure freshness with minimal spoils

Present new and additional products to customers

Establish a schedule to serve all accounts at a time convenient for them, but with unnecessary doubling back

Always be professional and courteous with customers and their employees

Must be willing to make necessary run back of products

Communicate with customers to help anticipate sharp increases or decreases in usage

Maintain proper rotation according to service level

Obtain necessary signatures on delivery tickets or payment upon completion of delivery

Pick up all empty crates

Must be able to climb stairs

Wheel product up and down stairs

Maintain Equipment

Handle all equipment in a way as to maximize it's useful life expectancy

Perform regular pre-trip inspections, and report any defects to be repaired

Have truck serviced at regular intervals

Monitor truck box temperatures

Keep truck reasonably clean

Lock truck and remove key when you leave

Curtains on doors must be hanging on doors at all times. If curtains need to be replaced please let fleet maintenance know

Maintain Warehouse

Monitor temperatures in all storage facilities

Lock warehouse when you leave

Keep warehouse and office reasonably clean

Watch for and correct any safety hazards

Shovel snow and put down ice melt

Order and Maintain Inventory

Take inventory to assist in preparation of order

Maintain enough stock to properly serve customers, but minimize spoils and short date products

Keep stock properly rotated and refrigerated

Accounting and Paperwork

Make daily bank deposits, money collected must balance with deposit

Properly account for any spoils

Take physical truck inventory twice weekly

Take warehouse inventory monthly

Paperwork must be legible

Send all paperwork on transport twice weekly, along with a properly filled out route check-in sheet

Job Requirements

Job Requirements:
Prefer a minimum of a Class " A" Commercial Drivers License, (company is willing to train).

Need a good driving record

Must be able to comply with all DOT regulations and requirements

Must have good lifting habits

Capable of thinking on your feet

Must have good people skills

Must have experience driving in winter mountain driving conditions

Sales and customer service experience preferred

Operate electronic logs according to company policy

Must have a high school diploma or equivalent
