While working under general supervision, the Run and Repair Production Mechanical Specialist operates equipment and performs corrective and preventive maintenance on high speed cigarette manufacturing and packaging machinery.
The Run and Repair Production Mechanical Specialist operates the equipment in a safe and efficient manner and is responsible for product quality, output, waste and regulatory compliance. Makes mechanical repairs and adjustments to the equipment in a safe and efficient manner and is responsible for product quality, output, waste, regulatory compliance, machine health and overall equipment effectiveness.
Diagnose machine problems and perform corrective maintenance accordingly.
Perform preventive maintenance.
Make standard practice adjustments, timings, settings, alignments, and replacement of parts.
Install and commission manufacturing and packaging equipment.
Operate, start, stop machine using appropriate control devices.
Diagnose machine problems, respond to fault lamp and message displays and adjust machine accordingly.
Load materials, clear material jams and make machine adjustments.
Perform machine and area cleaning as described.
Perform visual quality checks.
Perform product quality tests using testing equipment.
Order materials, verify materials, verify production specifications, perform quality checks , order parts, enter work history, create machine repair records, monitor and respond to KPI data prompts, set up machine for various products through direct interaction with advanced Manufacturing Execution System, Computerized Maintenance Management System, Parts Ordering System and Document Management System computer applications.
Occasionally lift/position materials to 97 lbs.
Operate industrial vehicles, use ladders and powered lifts to heights of 40 feet.
Perform procedures and work assignments in keeping with company policy, safety and Good Manufacturing Practice standards.
Effectively communicate with peers and management.
Perform other duties assigned by management.
High school diploma or equivalent
Industrial Systems Technology - Machine Operator Certificate or certificate in a related field or military equivalent
WorkKeys - Reading for Information @ Level 3
WorkKeys - Applied Mathematics @ Level 3
WorkKeys - Locating Information @ Level 4
WorkKeys - Observation @ Level 5 or Workplace Observation @ Level 2

Preferred Additional Qualifications:
Industrial Systems Technology - A.A.S or Mechanical Engineering Technology - A.A.S. or A.A.S degree in a related field or military equivalent. Three years' mechanical experience with high-speed manufacturing equipment.
